Pastor Giovanelli

Pastor Giovanelli and his wife, Sarah, graduated from Golden State Baptist College in 2000.  On May 27th, 2000, they were married, and since then God has taken them on an incredible journey of service for Him.  After being married, they accepted a position at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Napa, California, under the leadership of Pastor Mike Ray.  While serving there at Hopewell, God used Mrs. Giovanelli as a secretary and teen girls' Sunday school teacher, and Pastor Giovanelli had the privilege of being the youth pastor, choir director, and graphics designer.  During their time there, they watched as God blessed their lives as they learned from a seasoned pastor and pastor's wife.

In May of 2002, God moved them to Manteca, California, where Brother Giovanelli became the associate pastor of Central Valley Baptist Church.  During his time there, he had the opportunity to start the Victory Bible Class as well as oversee the beginning stages of a building project that would get underway in 2004.  On May 25th, 2002, the Giovanellis had their first child, Madeline Elizabeth.  While serving at the Central Valley Baptist Church of Manteca, God began to work on Bro. Giovanelli's heart, and he knew that it was time to pastor.  During a revival in August of 2003 with Dr. Randy Taylor, God solidified that calling in his heart.  During that revival, Dr. Taylor made a phone call to the chairman of the pulpit committee of Calvary Baptist Church. While touring Alcatraz Island in San Francisco, the chairman returned Dr. Taylor's phone call, and a date was scheduled for Brother Giovanelli to go and candidate for the pastorate of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dundalk, Maryland.

On Friday, September 19th, 2003, Brother Giovanelli and his wife stepped off a plane at the BWI airport and met some of the members of Calvary for the first time. On Sunday, September 21st, Brother Giovanelli stood and preached his first sermon from behind Calvary's pulpit and on October 26th, 2003, the people of Calvary voted to have him be their pastor.

Now, for these years God has been blessing this church with both numerical and spiritual growth.  It has been exciting to watch as God brought a "California boy" to this little town of "Dundalk."  It is very evident that God's hand is on this ministry.  Since arriving in Dundalk, Pastor Giovanelli and his wife have had two more children: Meredith Joy (12/14/04) and Mark John (5/28/08).
